It’s a been another great year for food swaps in Darebin. Transition Darebin has had a Northcote Food Swap on the second Saturday of the month from 11-12 for more than 3 years now. An exciting development is brand new food swap, in Reservoir that will start this Saturday ( third Saturday of the month) from 10-11.
At the Northcote Uniting Church garden up to 15 people meet regularly to swap veggies, fruit, herbs, eggs, seeds, seedlings and homemade produce such as chutneys, jams and soap. Any leftovers are given to DIVRS in Preston to give to hungry people. Marion, Annie and Sheryl convene the swap and in Reservoir, Clara, Kate and Damian will do the same.
Food swaps are a great way to swap excess, meet people who have an interest in urban food production and just generally get some hints, information and a little food. Find us on Darebin Urban Harvesters, Reservoir Food Swap, and Transition Darebin Facebook pages plus Transition Darebin website.
