Why come along you say!?!
For many, the alternative to being employed by big business means scraping together income through ‘Uber’ or ‘Deliveroo’. We need to find ways to transition to dignified livelihoods that are free from exploitation by those who profit from the fruits of our labour.
A Co-operative is an entirely different model of organisation that gives control and benefit to the people who are actually involved in the activity. Because participants control efforts themselves, profit hungry bosses aren’t required! Coops are taking off in Victoria – Food Co-ops, Manufacturing Co-ops, Housing Co-ops and Cleaning Co-ops are all currently operating providing valuable employment or resources for their members.
Got questions like what does it legally mean? How is a Co-op run? What are the drawbacks? Does it actually work? How can I join or start one myself? Come along to the June ‘Transition in the Pub’ event for some answers to these questions, its a space where folks can kick back, grab a drink, whilst learning about the world we live in and what we can do about it!
This event is held on Wurundjeri land.

Ideas of what to bring:
- seeds from your garden
- seedlings
- fruit
- vegetables
- herbs
- preserves
- cordials
- sour dough starter
The list goes on…
